UN Secretary-General ban Ki-moon at the Global conference in Ashgabat, noted the importance of achieving sustainability in transport, which will contribute to the improvement of human welfare, social progress and protection of our planet. This reports the press center of the organization.
Ban Ki-moon, speaking at the opening of the forum, in turn, recalled that the share of transport in total greenhouse gas emissions is growing rapidly.
“If we do not take the necessary measures in the transport sector, we fail to keep global temperature rise within two degrees Celsius, especially at the level of one and a half degrees,” – said ban Ki-moon.

Recall that the need to avoid raising global temperatures more than a half a degree Celsius enshrined in the Paris climate agreement.
As previously reported, on 4 November to start work, the Paris climate agreement, which should contain the increase in air temperature on the planet by the end of the century. The condition for this was the document’s ratification by 55 countries accounting for at least 55% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
