One of the developers of the MiG-29, aircraft Ivan Mikoyan died in 90-m to year of life in Moscow. This was reported by the Russian service “bi-Bi-si”.
The cause of death of the aircraft designer was the number of diseases associated with age. The last days he spent at home, surrounded by family.
The official ceremony of the funeral is not scheduled. A memorial service will be held on November 28 in the ritual centre of the design Bureau at noon Moscow time. Desire to say goodbye to an outstanding engineer expressed his colleagues. The body of the deceased by decision of the relatives will be cremated and the urn buried in the family tomb at the Novodevichy cemetery.
Ivan Mikoyan worked all his life in the design office, which was founded in 1939 by his uncle, Artem Mikoyan. In the Bureau he worked as leading engineer, Deputy chief designer. For the development of the MiG-29 Ivan Mikoyan was twice awarded the state prize of the USSR.
Multi-role fighter fourth generation MiG-29 was designed in the 1970-ies. Today the aircraft is in service with many countries, including Ukraine, India, Peru and Russia. Now Ukraine is upgrading those fighters that are available.
The MiG-29 was used including during the war in Afghanistan, the conflict in Transnistria.
