Since the beginning of Russian aggression in Ukraine has killed over 2,600 of the Ukrainian military personnel and more than 9,000 were injured. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine on implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“Just in the last two months of 2016, the Ukrainian positions were shelled more than 2,500 times, in which 12 soldiers were killed and over 150 were injured”, – said in a statement.
The foreign Ministry recalled that on 20 February 2014, the Russian Federation began an armed aggression against Ukraine, occupying the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea and city of Sevastopol. Today this aggression continues in the Donbas.
During these years of aggression under the command of Russian officers in the Donbas was formed forty thousand army, equipped and financed by the Russian side. This army is equipped with Russian weapons: heavy artillery and jet systems of volley fire (RSZO) BM-21 “Grad”, “Tornado” and TOS-1 “Buratino”, means of encrypted communication and monitoring (e-military complex “Mercury-BM”, “Briar-Aero”, “Leer-2”, 1РД257 “Krasuha-4”), anti-aircraft missile systems “Buk” (SA-11 Gadfly), “Strela” (SA-13 Gopher), Pantsir (SA-22 Greyhound). Now armed with this army is around 470 tanks, armored personnel carriers 870, 450 artillery systems, 190 MLRS. Russia also uses such prohibited weapons like rockets with cluster head part (9М55К) and anti-personnel landmines (PMN-2, MON-50).

16 March 2014 in Crimea was organized by the so-called referendum on the alleged determination of the Crimea. Self-proclaimed Crimean government stated that 96,77% of those who took part in the vote voted for the accession of Crimea to Russia. 18 March in the Kremlin was signed so called agreement on the accession to Russia of Crimea and Sevastopol.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially declared on 20 February 2014 the beginning of temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol to Russia. October 7, 2015 President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on the occupation of the Crimea. Western countries did not recognize the annexation of Crimea and imposed a series of economic sanctions against Russia.
