EU leaders agreed to extend sanctions against Russia until mid-2017. About it reports Reuters, citing European diplomatic sources.

“European Union leaders agreed on Thursday to renew major economic sanctions against Russia due to the unrest in Ukraine for six months until mid-2017, say diplomats”, – the publication reports.

According to diplomats, the decision was expected and a formal process to extend the sanctions against Russian defense, energy and financial sectors will be held early next week.

Earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Donald Tusk and stressed that relies on the continuation of anti-Russian sanctions, also called for the introduction of new sanctions over Russia’s actions in Aleppo.
