The Council of the European Union on justice and home Affairs is expected to adopt a September 14 decision to extend the targeted restrictive measures against individuals and institutions in the EU are regarded as “undermining the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine”. It is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

Otmechaetsya that the decision included in section “A” of the agenda, the issues which were agreed earlier and are formally approved without discussion.

Previously the extension of the sanctions for six months was approved at the meeting of permanent representatives of EU countries to the European Union on 6 September.

Recall that the first restrictive measures were introduced in March 2014 and since then regularly extended for six months. These measures include the freezing of assets of individuals and legal entities in the European Union and a ban on travel to EU countries.

In addition, in connection with the situation in Ukraine, there are also economic sanctions that affect individual sectors of the Russian economy and the restrictive measures introduced in response to “the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol”.
