The tragedy at the mine “Steppe” is not associated with the increase in the rate of coal mining in connection with the blockade of certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. About it on air of TV channel “112 Ukraine”, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman.
“There are such plans, to increase production of coal, but what happened with this absolutely not connected,” – said Vladimir Groisman.
He also noted that tomorrow will decide on the establishment of a state Commission to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy, as well as the inspection of all mines of the country. “Unfortunately, for those who run mines in the country, the question of the safety of miners, it is not a priority. Therefore, I am convinced that this is the most important thing to do,” said the Prime Minister.
According to Vladimir Groisman, if necessary, all the victims will be delivered to Kiev. “The emergencies Ministry has prepared a medical aircraft, if need be,” he added.
We will remind that in the Lvov area of the mine № 10 “the Steppe”, JSC “lvovugol” an explosion occurred which led to the collapse of rock. At the moment of explosion in mine there were 172 miners directly to the emergency section – 34. According to preliminary data, 8 miners were killed, 6 were brought to the surface by injuries, and the fate of another 20 remained unknown. Upon the death of the miners opened a criminal case.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the Cabinet to conduct an audit of all mines in connection with the tragedy in the Lvov area. Also announced a nationwide mourning.
