Groisman: unfortunately, I can’t fully trust the officials

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during the forum to the day of the fight against corruption admitted that he can’t trust officials. The broadcast speech of the Prime Minister led the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.

“Unfortunately, I can’t fully trust the officials. I want to rely more on civil society, expert environment. Come on, open. And I, in a good way ready to be a weapon in your hands. Because I believe that openness, publicity and eradication of corruption from the public sector is our great opportunity to change the country, to make it a successful, economically developed and strong from the point of view of defence. I believe that for this aim must be fought. And we will win,” – said Groisman.

Today, December 9, marks the international day of counteraction of corruption. On this day in 2003 in the Mexican city of Merida on the Political high-level conference was opened for signature the UN Convention against corruption, adopted by the UN General Assembly on November 1, 2003. The document obliges the signatory States to declare a criminal offence of bribery, embezzlement of budget funds and laundering of corruption proceeds. According to one Convention, it is necessary to return funds to the country from where they came as a result of corruption. Ratified in October 2006 this agreement, Ukraine has shown the intention of introducing preventive, next to repressive forms of anti-corruption in line with international best practices and experience in this field.
