In more than ten Brazilian States began mass protests, the participants clashed with police. The cause of the protests was the adoption by the Senate of the country’s controversial constitutional amendments, which allows you to freeze the growth of government spending for 20 years.

In the capital, Brasilia, protesters set fire to a bus and marched to the offices of the TV channel Globo TV, which, in their opinion, supports the measure.

In Sao Paulo, the most populated city in the country, protesters have attacked the headquarters of the Federation of industries, uniting large enterprises of the region.

It is reported that the law imposes a 20-year moratorium on the growth of government spending that can be expanded only at the rate of inflation last year.

The opposition claims that the measure will hit hardest the most vulnerable segments of the population and a particularly negative impact on the situation of education and health that are underfunded by the state.

For the approval of the law was necessary to gain 49 senatorial votes. In the end, voted 53 against 19.

Limiting the growth of expenditures, the current President of Brazil Michel Temer hoped to bring the country out of the deepest over the past decade of recession.
