The European Bank for reconstruction and development and the possible departure of four of the five members of the Supervisory Board of the company.
The European Bank for reconstruction and development, said the failure of the reform of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
Last week, four of the five members of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz (Marcus Richards, Charles Proctor, Paul Warwick and Yulia Kovaliv) said about the possibility of leaving the company because of the failure of the government plan for corporate governance of the company.
This writes European true with reference to the letter of the President of the EBRD Suma Chakrabarti, addressed to the President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman.
“The reform of Naftogaz, one of the most important under your jurisdiction, may fail in the coming days. After a series of disappointing events, independent members of the Supervisory Board of the NJSC said about the possibility of resignation,” – said in the letter.
“If that happens, it will not only seriously harm the Naftogaz, and destroy international confidence in the commitment of the government to reform and restructure the NAC,” writes the President of the EBRD.
Chakrabarti draws attention to unjustified delays in the implementation of the plan of corporate reform of Naftogaz, and the unfinished work on the implementation of secondary legislation necessary for the entry into force on 1 April, amendments to the Charter of the NAC.
“After many months of consultation the draft policy of state for the NAC continues to contain provisions that are contrary to the spirit of corporate governance reform, that threatens the supposed independence and insulation of the company from unwarranted political interference,” reads the letter.
Last month, the Naftogaz acknowledged the possibility of bankruptcy.
