Residents are collecting signatures with a demand to demolish a bust of the former Secretary General of the USSR.

Residents of Kamensky (former Dnipropetrovsk – ed.) in Dnipropetrovsk region appealed to the city authorities with the requirement to dismantle a monument to Leonid Brezhnev. About it reports Radio Freedom.

Appeal registered on the website for electronic petitions.

The monument is not included in the register of immovable monuments of history and subject to the law on decommunization and dismantling, the authors of the petition.

The head of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory Vladimir vyatrovich confirmed that the bust of Leonid Brezhnev may not be the exception and falls under dismantling.

“There is every reason for the public to sue for the failure of the law on de-communization on the leadership of the city. Such precedents is no longer a unique history”, – said viatrovych.

Note, in the winter of 2017 Kamensky city Council budgeted money to repair the bust to Brezhnev. In 2016 members of the city Council decided to muzejrezervats this bust.

Recall, may 12, 2017 in Kiev demolished the last monument to Lenin.
