Nuclear power plants in Switzerland
The referendum in Switzerland, the inhabitants of the country have spoken out against the early closure of nuclear power plants. It is reported RTS.
54% of the Swiss voted against the initiative. Voter turnout reached 44%.
According to DW, the initiative was supported by only 45% of the population.

Nuclear power plants produce about a third of all electricity in Switzerland. As the BBC reports, according to business and government, the rapid closure can lead to energy deficit and increase the dependence on fossil fuels.
Earlier, the government adopted the energy development plan up to 2050, in which decided not to build more new nuclear power plants, and gradually switch to wind, solar and biofuels.
