Law enforcers have exposed the criminal scheme, which involved officials of the regional Department of Gosrybagentstvo.

In the Poltava region seized more than 30 tonnes of substandard fish being illegally caught and produced. About it reports a press-service of the local police.

On this fact the Prosecutor’s office opened criminal proceedings under part 2 St. 364 (abuse of power or official position) the Criminal code of Ukraine.

Law enforcement authorities established that the catch of fish was carried out on an industrial scale in the water basin of the Kremenchug reservoir and at the mouth of the Sula river. The attackers used in their activities and prohibited fishing gear.

In addition, it was established the production of fish products. The region operated a network of underground shops. Of the catch the attackers were implemented, and the rest were sent for recycling. In particular, in underground shops fish salted, dried, dried and smoked. In the future is made in unsanitary conditions products sold in natural markets and retail chains in Poltava and other areas.

Fish products, implemented in commercial network did not pass any sanitary or veterinary controls.

June 8, law enforcement officers conducted 14 authorized searches in the place of residence of officials and individuals that were part of fishing teams, and at the location of the underground shops.

Police seized almost 1.5 million and 60 thousand dollars, draft records, five hundred units of illegal fishing gear (nets, electrofishing, “spiders”) and weapons.

Note, in the past two weeks in Ukraine registered several cases of poisoning with dried fish, two of them fatal.
