Vodka in Ukraine has risen by 27%
Retail price for a bottle of vodka will amount to almost UAH 70.
The government of Ukraine issued a decree on raising the minimum prices on alcoholic beverages.
“The size of the minimum wholesale release and retail prices depending on the code products enhanced with vodka and distillery products 27.1-27,86%; whiskey, rum and gin at 37-63%; cognac (brandy) – 24-27%; wine – 22.2-55.6 per cent,” the statement reads.
The Cabinet said that the minimum retail price for a bottle of vodka 0.5 liters will rise from 54,90 to 69,78 hryvnia.
“This is due to the fact that introduced in September 2015 the minimum prices could not meet the real costs of economic entities in the production and sale of alcoholic beverages”, – noted in the government.
In particular, increased excise tax rates, increased the price of alcohol and other components.
A government decree will enter into force 10 days after its official publication.
