UNOPS opens office in Ukraine

The UN office for project services (UNOPS) agreed with the Cabinet about the opening of the organization’s Office in Ukraine, reports RBC-Ukraine.
So, a corresponding agreement was signed today by the Minister of Ukraine on the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons Vadim Chernysh and Deputy Secretary General of UN, Executive Director of UNOPS Grete Faremo.
“This is just the beginning and we look forward to strengthen our cooperation,” said Faremo.
The operationalization of UNOPS office in Ukraine, in particular, will facilitate the implementation of investment projects and to provide services of managing complicated sets of economic activities.
The agreement also provides for the application of international experience of UNOPS in the field of infrastructure construction, the implementation of investment projects and services in the field of procurement.
We will remind, earlier it was announced that Ukraine and the United Nations intend to sign the agreement on the establishment of the Office of UNOPS. It was noted that he will be engaged in development, humanitarian and peace support.
