The President of Ukraine stressed the importance of dialogue between the OSCE and the UN in the issue of peacekeeping mission in Eastern Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the newly appointed Secretary General of the OSCE Thomas Greminger at a meeting in Kiev on 13 September discussed the work of the United Nations organization mission in the Donbas and the initiative of introducing UN peacekeepers. It is reported by the administration of the President.

The sides coordinated approach for the placement of the UN peacekeeping mission in Eastern Ukraine. The President stressed the importance of intensive dialogue between the OSCE and the UN in this matter.

Poroshenko also told Greminger about the situation in the Donbass, the implementation of the Minsk agreements and outlined the vision of the strategy of de-occupation of Crimea. He called on the OSCE Secretary General to use all possible mechanisms to release Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia and Crimea, as well as hostages in the Donbas.

Earlier it was reported that Russia has prepared for the UN security Council a resolution proposal to send peacekeepers to the Donbas to protect the OSCE observers.

Later it became known that Ukraine will offer its own version of the initiative on the introduction of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass after consultation with the partner countries.
