Poroshenko honored the memory of Holodomor victims, 26.11.2016
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko considers it necessary to open a Museum of famine. He said this during the commemoration of the victims of the Holodomor, which was broadcast channel “112 Ukraine”.
“In 2007, the place became a memorial, which became a place of pilgrimage for many Ukrainians. But the Museum part, which would be the best examples of memorial art are still there. I am convinced that we should begin this work with the aim of creating a worthy Museum institutions,” he said.
This Poroshenko expressed confidence that this initiative needs to join, including non-governmental organizations, business representatives, and the public.
Earlier, Poroshenko said that he had signed a decree on measures in connection with the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor 1932-33 in Ukraine – genocide of the Ukrainian people, in which he instructed the foreign Ministry to continue work on the recognition by the international community, foreign States and international organizations of the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
We will remind, Ukraine and the world on 26 November 2016 will commemorate the memory of Holodomor victims. Each year, the Ukrainian Institute of national memory offers a special topic to emphasize a certain aspect of the tragedy of Holodomor of 1932-1933 the Slogan of the commemorative events – “the famine broke.”
