The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Italy Paolo Gentiloni. About it reported in a press-service of the Ukrainian President.

The report said that the Ukrainian leader congratulated Gentiloni with the recent appointment and expressed hope for strengthening cooperation between the countries.

“Poroshenko stressed the importance of continuing strong support of Ukraine in the issues of restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for significant reforms during the next presidency of Italy in the “Big Seven” during 2017. The parties agreed on closer coordination to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well as in the case of de-occupation of Crimea. Paolo Gentiloni welcomed the initiatives of Petro Poroshenko about the need for the announcement, since December 24, sustained and lasting ceasefire in the Donbass, as well as the immediate release of all hostages”, – noted in press service.

Italian Prime Minister also confirmed the readiness to accelerate the granting Ukraine visa-free regime with the EU.

The parties also discussed the search and return 17 Italian paintings in the Museum of Verona. The President has invited Prime Minister of Italy in 2017 to visit Ukraine, to which he agreed.
