The US President-elect himself has raised this issue, said the head of state.
President Petro Poroshenko said that during a phone conversation with the elected American President Donald trump discussed the question of the annexation of Crimea and Russian aggression.
Poroshenko spoke with trump via phone on November 15. Then it was reported that the Ukrainian President congratulated him on his election victory and stressed the importance of continuing to support Ukraine with Washington “to counter the aggression of the Russian Federation”.
Thus, according to him, trump himself has raised this issue.
“I can confirm that the issue of Russian aggression, the annexation of Crimea was raised by the tramp during our phone conversation,” – said Poroshenko during a press conference in Brussels.
However, Poroshenko did not disclose the content of the conversation with trump in detail.
I would not want to reveal all the details, but I had the opportunity to tell him about all the recent events in the Crimea”,
He also said that “Ukraine has strong bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress”, which will remain in the future.
In turn, the President of the European Council Donald Tusk added that he also spoke with trump about Ukraine and stated that trump’s reaction was “at least promising in comparison with some of the statements during the election campaign.”
Earlier it was reported that Poroshenko wants to visit the United States next year, where he intends to meet with trump.
Also note that trump has not discussed with Putin Ukraine yesterday during a telephone conversation.
