PrivatBank was nationalised and the state has already decided who will lead the banking giant.

President Petro Poroshenko said that the Bank will include a highly professional management.

In the PrivatBank have openly said that it will be headed by Oleksandr Shlapak, the person to the Bank not someone else’s.

A native of Lviv

In recent years, the existence of the Soviet Union Oleksandr Shlapak was the first Secretary of the Lvov regional Committee of Komsomol.

And soon after the ex-first Secretary of Dnipropetrovsk regional Committee of Komsomol Sergey Tigipko became the head of “PrivatBank”, Shlapak became Director of the Lviv branch of “Private” and gradually rose to Deputy Chairman of the Board of CB “PrivatBank”.

In 1998 Shlapak, together with Tigipko left the government of his Advisor, when he Tigipko Vice Prime Minister for economic Affairs.

From July 2001 to November 2002 – Shlapak held a post of the Minister of economy Anatoliy Kinakh government.

From 2003 to 2005 Shlapak worked as Deputy head of the NBU, which was then Tigipko.

After the revolution of Dignity Oleksandr Shlapak was appointed Minister of Finance and the Cabinet of Ministers Arseniy Yatsenyuk during the period from 27 February 2014 to 2 December 2014.

The future head of PrivatBank said that he did not want to work in the government.

“I feel that I’m not going to continue. I don’t want,” – said Shlapak. However, he did not specify the reasons for which he intends to leave the government, citing personal reasons.

When Shlapak taxied the country’s finances he said that the sharp collapse of the hryvnia happened because of the panic on the currency market.

In November 2014, he stated that the allowed rate of hryvnia – not more than 12.9 UAH/USD.

“The trade balance is a favorable one. The problem is that the withdrawn money under the influence of panic as investors from the state and people from banks. This leads to collapse. Without this, in a calm situation, I can assure you that we would be standing on the course 13 hryvnia per dollar, and didn’t move from the place,” – said Shlapak was.

In September 2014, he said that Ukraine’s economy has reached bottom, but as we see now – a little mistake.

Shlapak also said that the events in the Donbas deprived Ukraine of 8-9% of GDP.
