Polish tennis player, who left Roland Garros, remained dissatisfied with the organization of the tournament this year.
After being eliminated from the fourth round of Roland Garros by representatives of the Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova, tennis player Agnieszka Radwanska commented on the actions of the organizers of the tournament:
“I am very upset and unhappy that we had to play in the rain. This is not a ITF tournament with prize Fund of $ 10 million, this is the tournament series Grand slam. How can you afford to continue the match when the rain?! I can’t play in such conditions. Even in the second set I tried to prove to the judge that this is not rain, but a downpour. Don’t know who allowed us to play under such weather conditions.
I don’t think officials care what they think of the players. The impression that they care about completely different things. Amid all this, I’m pissed. I just can’t play in these conditions, I am not well enough to continue the match in the rain.”
Recall that the meeting between Radwanska and Pironkova was suspended on may 29 when the score was 6:2, 3:0 in favor of Agnieszka and resumed on 31 may, despite the ongoing rain. In the end, Pironkova was able to turn the game around in their favor and won with a score of 2:6, 6:3, 6:3.
