The Russian biathlon Union forced Timofey Lapshin to go under the banner of South Korea, but would not allow his performances for Ukraine.
The President of the biathlon Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr brynzak, spoke about the recent situation around Timofey Lapshin. 28-year-old Russian has ceased to be among the top biathletes of the national team there, being unable to get into the first team on the relay. The coaching staff of Les Bleus have made it clear to Timothy that any prospects in Russia had not.
After this, the athlete began looking for new options for a career. One of the priority for him was the opportunity to play under the flag of Ukraine, but this never materialized due to the political situation.
“He spoke to us, even came to Kiev. We considered this question. But in connection with the situation between our countries, it so happened that he put a spoke in the wheel. Said, “Can play for any country except for Ukraine”, – told the President of the biathlon Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr Brynzak.
Also the functionary said that he had agreement with the administration of the President of Ukraine on granting Ukrainian citizenship Lapshin.
Ultimately Lapshin appealed to the South Korean national team and is likely to prodolbit their performances at the World Cup under the banner of the Asian team.
Add that his best result in singles competition is the silver medal of the sprint, as well as two bronze in the same discipline. In the relay on its score a number of victories.
