The European broadcasting Union (EBU) has officially confirmed that Russia will not be able to participate in the Eurovision song contest in 2017. This is stated in the statement of the organization.

“The proposals were to either to participate via satellite, or to change favourites artist on who could legally enter Ukraine at the time of the competition. Unfortunately, both proposals were rejected by the First channel. His leadership has announced that it will not broadcast “Eurovision-2017″. This means that Russia will not be able to participate this year. Unfortunately, this means that Russia will not be able to participate in the contest this year. We really want all 43 countries have been able to take part and did everything possible to achieve this goal,” reads the statement of the EBU.

In the organization reiterated that condemn the decision of the Ukrainian authorities, but “preparations for the Eurovision song contest continues in the host city Kiev. Our top priority remains the creation of the spectacular Eurovision song contest in may”.

As reported, the SBU for 3 years denied entry to Ukraine of Yulia Samoilova. In Russia it chose to participate in the contest “Eurovision-2017”, which will be held in Kiev.
