More than 1,300 security forces after the annexation of Crimea defected to Russia
Only in Crimea there are more than 1.3 thousand people. SBU maintains a register of such people.
After the annexation of Crimea, more than 1.3 thousand Ukrainian security forces took the side of Russia, said the head of the SBU Basil Gritsak.
This statement was made in the context of the detention of two Russian soldiers on the border with Crimea. According to the SBU, before the annexation of the Peninsula they served in the Ukrainian army. In turn, Russia has accused Ukraine of kidnapping the military.
“Only in the Crimea we have more than 1,300 people (sided with Russia, and is now serving in the armed forces of Russia – ed.),” said Hrytsak.
According to him, the security service maintains a registry of such persons.
“We are trying to see how these people travel sometimes to Ukraine, or other countries and are doing everything possible to hold them accountable, regardless of which units they served: the national guard under the interior Ministry or the SBU,” – said the head of the SBU.
