A group of neuroscientists from northwestern University (USA) found that people with important life goals, are less likely to suffer from insomnia, reports The Guardian. The full study was published in the journal Sleep Science and Practice.

During the study experts came to the conclusion that people with high goal setting rarely suffer from various sleep disorders, particularly sleep apnea. According to experts, setting important goals helps to overcome insomnia.

The study involved more than 800 people aged 60 to 100 years. All of them were subjected to a survey as part of the quality and duration of sleep, as well as future plans and other things.

Besides setting goals, the researchers recommend that people to give up coffee, alcohol and nicotine, as well as watching TV and computer use before bedtime.

It is also important to observe the regime and to abandon the intense exercise before bedtime.
