Scientists in Peru have recreated the face of the famous mummy of the Lady of Cao

The remains of the Lady of Cao is well preserved due to low humidity in the burial.

Scientists in Peru with the help of 3D printing was able to restore the ancient face of a woman who, presumably, was a powerful political or religious leader. Lady of Cao, which is also called Cleopatra Latin America, belonged to the culture of the Moche in Northern Peru and died 1700 years ago.

Her remains were discovered in 2006 destroyed a clay pyramid near Trujillo.

The autopsy showed that the woman was about 20 years old when she died, probably from complications in childbirth or pregnancy. Her legs, feet and face were covered with tattoos of magical symbols – snakes and spiders.

The scientists were able to recreate the face of the Lady Cao, analyzing the structure of the skull and remains.

Lady Cao was buried with a crown, gold and copper products. The burial also found weapons, including two massive war clubs and 23 of the device for throwing spears.

Judging by the wealth of burial, she could be a priestess or even a political ruler.
