Five-time winner of Grand slams Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova said that will not ask for a wild card into the main draw at Wimbledon, and will play in the qualification tournament.
“A few months ago I received the offer of a wild card from the tournament in Birmingham, one of my favorite tournaments in his youth. I’m glad to participate again in this competition.
After three tournaments after my return, my rating has improved, so I will play in the qualifying of Wimbledon and I’m not asking for a wild card into the main draw” – quoted Sharapova on her website.
Earlier media reported that the organizers of Wimbledon are not going to give Sharapova served a suspension for the use of Meldonium, the wild-card to participate in the main draw of the tournament, which she won in 2004.
