Sweden rejected the claim in the Yukos case for $2 million

Швеция отклонила иск по делу Юкоса на $2 млн

Russia won another case, Yukos

The money demanded by the Spanish shareholders of the oil company.

The court in Sweden refused to the former shareholders of Yukos from Spain in the complaint for cancellation of the decision to pay them $ 2 million in compensation. This writes Interfax, citing the head of the International centre for the legal protection of Andrey Kondakov, who represents Russia’s interests in the dispute with Yukos.

“The Supreme court of Sweden rejected the collective petition of minority shareholders of Yukos from Spain presented by a group of investment funds, to review the decision of the court of Appeal of Sweden,” he said.

He recalled that the claim by Spanish minority shareholders in Yukos were filed in the Arbitration court of Stockholm chamber of Commerce on the basis of bilateral Russian-Spanish agreement on encouragement and mutual protection of investments in connection with allegedly taking place in Russia for the expropriation of their assets.

As reported Корреспондент.netin April of this year, the Hague regional court quashed the decision of the Hague Tribunal ordered Russia to pay 50 billion to former shareholders of YUKOS.

The Kremlin has urged not to politicize the court, and the former head of Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky said that “the West has decided to ease the pressure.”

We will remind, on December, 7th court of Ireland overturned the arrest of 100 million euros on account of Khodorkovsky, frozen five years ago in the investigation of money laundering.
