Ukraine is the second country in the world by number of investments from EBRD
The Bank planned to provide Ukraine with one billion euros.
The European Bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD) in 2016 investing in Ukraine EUR 400 million. This was announced by the President of the Bank Suma Chakrabarti during the meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman.
Chakrabarti reminded that Ukraine is the second country in the world by number of investments from EBRD.
“Next year the amount of investment can be increased. In particular, the EBRD will pay special attention to the reforms in the ministries and departments, in particular, in order to strengthen and develop their institutional capacity” – quoted by Chakrabarti press service of the Cabinet.
Note for 2014 and 2015, Ukraine has received from the EBRD a total of 2.2 billion euros.
Bank chief economist Sergei Guriev in comments to the Agency Interfax-Ukraine said that part of the reduction in the volume of projects in the current year due to the fact that in 2015, the Bank opened a large revolving credit line for Naftogaz. The EBRD has given $ 300 million for natural gas purchases, and this year help Naftogaz will provide the world Bank project for $ 500 million.
Recall, the EBRD planned to invest in the Ukrainian economy about one billion euros in 2016, but subject to reforms.
