The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine passed to the Supervisory Council for public radio and the authority to appoint the head of public broadcasting. This decision was taken during today’s Cabinet meeting.
The draft resolution “On amending paragraph 11 of the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 3 September 2008 No. 777” was approved by the government without discussion.
“This ruling is a big important step towards completing the reform of public and radio in Ukraine… It means that in the future this table will not be a single person, not one government representative who will have the opportunity to influence the appointment the head of public television and radio in Ukraine. It will be the prerogative of the Supervisory Board,” said Minister of information policy Yuriy stets.
