The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkey, reiterated the non-recognition of Crimea as part of Russia

Министерство иностранных дел Турции вновь заявило о непризнании Крыма в составе России

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkey, reiterated the non-recognition of the annexation of the Crimea. This is stated in the statement of the MFA of Turkey on the occasion of the third anniversary of the annexation of Crimea by Russia, Anadolu Agency reports.

“The annexation of Crimea is a flagrant violation of international law. Turkey reiterates the non-recognition of the annexation of the Peninsula, held on the basis of the results of the illegal referendum of 16 March 2014,” reads the MFA statement.

The foreign Ministry also stressed that Turkey recognizes the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

“Ankara will continue to monitor closely the processes in Crimea and to protect the rights and interests of the Crimean Tatars, who historically lived on the Peninsula,” reads the statement.

Recall, March 16 was the third anniversary of the so-called “referendum” in Crimea. On this occasion, the US state Department said that U.S. sanctions against Russia will remain in place as long as you do not stop the occupation of the Crimea.

We will remind, on March 13, the European Union extended sanctions against persons involved in violation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
