The organization stressed that over the past years, the significance and symbolism of this film could change.

The observer of the OSCE monitoring mission in the Donbas Olga Skibowska wore a ribbon during the celebration of may 9 in the Moldovan city of Balti in 2010. At this time in Ukraine, the symbolism, too, was recognized. This is stated in the statement of the OSCE.

“It was in 2010 during the ceremony of laying flowers to the Tomb of the unknown soldier in the Moldovan city of Balti. The ceremony was held in honor of the memory of millions of men and women who have sacrificed in the struggle against fascism”, – stated in the message on the organization’s page on Facebook.

The OSCE stressed that over the years, “the meaning and symbolism of this film could change, but at the time it symbolized only the courage of the previous generation.”

“In 2010, in Ukraine, the symbolism, too, was recognized and the tape wore even many of those who later became well-known supporters of the Maidan. Given this, wearing this ribbon in 2010 does not provide for the approval or endorsement of any political or ideological beliefs, which later began to associate with her”, – said the OSCE.
