Oil giant requested permission to resume the work with Rosneft.
The American authorities refused the oil company ExxonMobil in work permit in Russia in the framework of the sanctions regime. This was stated by the Minister of Finance of the USA Stephen Mnuchin, reports RIA Novosti.
“In consultation with President Donald trump, the Ministry of Finance will not issue permits to American companies, including Exxon, drilling, prohibited by the sanctions against Russia”, – said Mnuchin.
On the eve of the Wall Street Journal found out that the oil giant ExxonMobil sent a request to the US government with a request to waive the sanctions against Russia and allow it to develop joint projects with Russian Rosneft.
Note that the current Secretary of state USA Rex Tillerson before appointment to this position was the Chairman of the Board and the Board of Directors of ExxonMobil. In December 2016 Tillerson announced the withdrawal of ExxonMobil.
