Credit line for the development of education, medicine, agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa.
The world Bank group President Jim Yong Kim announced on 19 March that the Bank approved a financing package for African countries South of the Sahara, reports RIA Novosti.
“This is an unprecedented opportunity to change the trajectory of development of the countries of the region,” said Yong Kim.
According to him, the new credit line will help the development of education, basic medical care, supply the population with drinking water.
Of the total $ 57 billion $ 45 billion will be allocated through International development Association − a division of the world Bank that helps the poorest countries.
Eight billion will go to investment in the private sector from the other part of the world Bank group − International Finance Corporation, and four billion will be allocated a third unit, the international Bank for reconstruction and development.
It is noted that the funding would cover almost 450 different projects.
Earlier, the head of the world Bank stated that the reconstruction of Syria after military action is needed from 150 to 180 billion dollars.
