The Ukrainian head of state believes that the energy blackmail of Russia failed.

Ukraine lived for a year without direct purchases of gas from Russia, limiting the reverse supply from EU countries. This was stated by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during a press conference at the summit Ukraine-EU in Brussels.

The head of state noted that November 21, ended the “first full year, when Ukraine had not a single cubic metre of Russian gas”.

“The attempt to bring Ukraine to its knees energy blackmail failed,” – said Poroshenko.

The President noted that Ukraine and the EU should strengthen energy partnership.

“Documentary proof of this is the signing today, Minister Nasalik and Vice-President of the European Commission agreement on energy solidarity between the EU and Ukraine”, – said Poroshenko.

At the same time, he stressed that the expansion of the access of Gazprom to gas market of the EU is contrary to the Association Agreements and the Treaty establishing the Energy community.

As reported Корреспондент.netpreviously was named European price of gas for Ukraine.So, Naftogaz bought natural gas from European suppliers in the third quarter of this year at an average price of $187 for 1 thousand cubic meters compared to $191 in the first quarter and $224 in the fourth quarter of last year.

It also became known that Ukraine will earn on gas storage from the EU. Signed agreement with three companies to test deliveries of gas are expected in December.
