Ukrzaliznytsya wants to significantly increase the tariffs for passenger transportation
The company plans to upgrade some of the rolling stock and acquire new ones.
Ukrzaliznytsia has planned for 2017 to significantly increase fares: tickets for passenger transportation may increase by 35 percent and transportation by 25.
This was stated by a member of the management Board Remigiusz paszkiewicz at the presentation of the plan for capital investments.
According to him, 46 per cent of the money will go on purchase of fixed assets, 33 percent for construction, 19 percent in modernization of rolling stock and 2 percent for other needs.
Overall, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to increase capex to 27.4 billion.
He stressed that the new tariffs take into account not only the cost increase due to the weakening of the hryvnia, inflation and the increasing demand for rail transportation. Note, the tariffs need approval of the Cabinet.
If this does not happen, then the Railways may revise the programme of its medium size projects, including, to divide it into two parts and to perform the second in 2018. However, this is not desirable, acetyl Pashkevich.
We will remind, in the beginning of the month, the head of the company Wojciech Balczun has declared a technical default of the Railways.
And last month it was reported that the passenger sector of the Railways is a separate structure, and Ukrainian trains upgrading, in particular, will provide uninterrupted Wi-Fi on trains and introduce electronic tickets on trains.
