A key factor in the energy independence and security of the country is the development of domestic gas production – Burisma

For three years, natural gas production in Ukraine can increase up to 27 billion cubic meters. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion at the eighth energy forum in Kyiv organized by the “Adam Smith conference” with the support of Burisma.

The event brought together representatives of government, Parliament and energy sector companies. Discussed urgent reforms and long-term strategy in the energy sector of the country.

“Despite internal and external challenges, Ukraine continues to move through deep structural reforms in the energy sector. This reflects not only the need for Ukraine’s energy independence, but our European integration aspirations,” – said Vice Prime Minister-Minister Vladimir Kistion.

One of the tasks of the coming years is the reduction of dependence on imported gas.

“The government has made a huge leap by replacing imports of gas from Russia to import gas from Europe. But it still imports. We see the key factor for the independence and security of the country the development of our Ukrainian production of gas. Our company makes every effort to help achieve this goal”, – said the Director for international cooperation and strategic development BURISMA GROUP Vadim Pozharskiy.

Over the last two years enterprises BURISMA GROUP paid about 5 billion UAH of taxes to the state budget. The company is one of the largest taxpayers in Ukraine. This year BURISMA planned investment is 3 billion UAH in the development of gas production in order to increase domestic production of gas.

Approvingly about the reforms in the gas sector responded to the European energy community.

“The gas market law which was enacted last year, really eased the existing restrictions, although not for the entire market, but the most important part. Secondly, all legislative acts have been adopted but some still need to fix or improve,” – said the Director of the Secretariat of the European energy community.

The forum will last three days. It aims to create an effective dialogue between the government, the Parliament and the business to implement the strategy of energy independence.
