After the increase in gas prices and inflation will rise – IMF

После повышения цен на газ вырастет и инфляция - МВФ

The overall macroeconomic impact should be very limited

Ukraine has a program of providing subsidies for utilities, which softens the effect of raising gas tariffs on the cost of heating.

After raising gas prices for the population in Ukraine is expected a slight rise in inflation. This was announced by permanent representative of the International monetary Fund in Ukraine (IMF) Jost Lungman during the presentation of the economic survey of the prospects of the European economy and a look at macroeconomic trends of economy of Ukraine on Tuesday, 13 November.

“As for the economy, it will be a temporary rise in inflation. I think the impact on inflation will be about 0.5%,” – said Longman, answering a journalist’s question about the IMF about the impact of rising gas prices, taking into account the fact that, according to the government forecast, the prices for heating will increase by 10-15%.

According to his estimates, given that Ukraine has a program of providing subsidies for utilities, which softens the effect of raising gas tariffs on the cost of heating for the population will not be a significant effect on consumption.

“The overall macroeconomic effect (the increase in tariffs for gas) should be very limited,” said he.

Earlier, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman said that in connection with rising of gas tariffs for heating could rise no more than 16%.
