Another state of the United States recognized the Holodomor as genocide

Kansas became the tenth state of America, which recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. 2018 declared the year of remembrance of the victims of this tragedy in Kansas.

The American state of Kansas have recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932-1933 a genocide against the Ukrainian people. On Wednesday, may 9, reports the Embassy of Ukraine in USA in Facebook.

The proclamation, which proclaims 2018 as the year of remembrance of the victims of this tragedy in Kansas, was signed by the state Governor Jeff Collier.

“Thanks to the joint efforts of Ukrainian diplomats in the United States and of American Ukrainians Kansas became the 10th state to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-33 as genocide of the Ukrainian people”, – stated in the message of the Embassy.

Previously, the Holodomor in Ukraine was genocide is recognized in nine States: Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, new Jersey, new York, Oregon and Pennsylvania.

Also the decision adopted by the parliaments of several countries, including Canada, Australia, Georgia, Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Chile.

As reported, in 2017, President Petro Poroshenko urged the U.S. Congress to recognize the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

As reported, on 2 may, the state of new York recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide.

Recall that in March the U.S. state of Massachusetts also recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932-1933 a genocide against the Ukrainian people.
