The Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate will be held on 27-29 November

The Ecumenical Patriarchate confirmed his intention to grant the Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Unification Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be held in December. This is stated in the message of the Secretariat of the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, published on Monday, November 19.

It is noted that in preparation for the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from 27 to 29 November 2018 Constantinople recalls its decision to grant the Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“While the process of preparation of the Holy Council of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, a specific date in December 2018 will be presented for confirmation and announcement by the Holy and sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate”, – stated in the message.

We will remind that on October 11 Constantinople proceeded to the granting of autocephaly churches in Ukraine. And in early November President Petro Poroshenko and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed an agreement on cooperation and interaction between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

The ROC then declared that the agreement between the President of Ukraine and Ecumenical Patriarch does not mean the creation of an independent Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
