The portfolio of hryvnia loans for last year grew by 31.4% to 135,4 bln hryvnia, exceeding the amount in the pre-crisis period.

Credit portfolio of Ukrainian banks in national currency for the year 2018, increased by 8.1% to 616 billion. This is stated in the provisional data on Monetary statistics in December last year, published yesterday by the national Bank.

According to the regulator, the portfolio of hryvnia loans grew by 31.4% to 135,4 billion graven, exceeding the amount of the portfolio in the pre-crisis period. The increase is due to the active development of Bank consumer lending, said the NBU. However, in December 2018 portfolio of credits in national currency remained almost at the level of the previous month (November).

The portfolio of hryvnia credits business over the past year increased by 2.7% to 478,5 billion UAH, while in December it decreased by 1.5%.

Also in 2018, increased balances on foreign currency loans (dollar equivalent) – by 6.7% to $14.4 billion (in December declined by 4.4%).

Earlier, the NBU said that by the end of 2018 Ukrainian banks show record profits over the last ten years. So, for 11 months the profit of the banks amounted to almost 20 billion hryvnia, of which five were received in November.
