Canada gives $ 24 mln for reforms in Ukraine
Support of Canada will focus on increasing the role of women in democratic processes and combat the spread of misinformation.
Canada will provide up to $ 24 million for the organization of monitoring of the Ukrainian elections, improving governance in the country and the achievement of gender equality. This was stated by the foreign Ministry of Canada, writes UKRINFORM on Friday, December 7.
As reported, the Minister of foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland and the Minister of international development Marie-Claude Bibo pledged by Canada to 24 million dollars to support the electoral reform in Ukraine.
“The mission of election observation, make an important contribution to the strengthening of democratic institutions. Canada will help Ukraine by sending a significant number of canadian observers to the bilateral support of the canadian monitoring mission, and if it will be created in 2019 – the observation mission of the OSCE,” – said in a statement.
It is emphasized that support Canada’s focus on “increasing democratic participation of civil society, the role of women in democratic processes and combat the spread of misinformation and extraneous interference”.
Earlier it became known that the canadian authorities decided to send a large monitoring mission in Ukraine in 2019.
