Cemil in Ankara discussed with Erdogan the persecution of the Crimean Tatars.

The leader of the Crimean Tatar people and member of Parliament Mustafa Dzhemilev on Tuesday, 4 July, met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Anadolu Agency reports.

The meeting was held at the presidential complex in Ankara behind closed doors and lasted for 45 minutes.

The press service of the Majlis said that Dzhemilev told Erdogan on the current situation in Crimea, the situation of human rights in connection with the persecution of Crimean Tatars and other Ukrainian citizens.

“Crimean Tatar leader noted the need for the urgent release of all political prisoners of the Kremlin and the lifting of the ban on entry into Crimea for the representatives of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people,” – said in a statement.

It is noted that Erdogan said that the Turkish authorities “take measures on the prevention a visit to the Crimean port of Turkish courts. The Turkish President confirmed his readiness to support the initiative of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people on construction in Kyiv’s Central mosque to mark the unity of Muslims of Ukraine”.
