Odebrecht will pay the largest fine for corruption
The construction company will have to pay a fine in the amount of from 2.6 billion to 4.5 billion.
Construction company Odebrecht from Brazil will pay the largest ever penalty for corruption to the authorities of the three countries, writes The Wall Street Journal.
The company will have to pay a fine in the amount of 2.6 billion dollars to 4.5 billion dollars the authorities in Brazil, USA and Switzerland. Brazilian prosecutors believe that the company will pay the fine for 23 years.
In the U.S. justice Department noted that the maximum fine ($4.5 billion) will depend on its solvency to be calculated in the coming months.
The claim against Odebrecht has filed a US Department of justice in accordance with the law prohibiting bribery of foreign officials.
Earlier, the British banks fined for money laundering.
And last week, the largest distributor of cigarettes in Ukraine was fined 430 million.
