The number of dollar millionaires will reach 44 million people

Global inequality has increased in the postcrisis period.

The total indicator of the welfare of the world’s population from mid-2016 to mid-2017 increased by 6.4% and reached $280 trillion. This is evidenced by the annual report Global Wealth Report Credit Suisse Swiss Bank, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

As noted, the growth rates were the highest for the last five years and due to the rising cost of real estate and stock prices.

Due to the fact that the welfare has increased faster than the population growth, the rate on a per person reached a record $56,54 thousand compared to $52,074 thousand a year ago.

1% wealthiest people now own half the world’s wealth. Their share increased to 50.1% compared with 42.5% in the midst of the financial crisis of 2008.

“The share of 1% richest people on the path of growth since the crisis, surpassing the 2000 level in 2013, and after reaching this peak annually. Global inequality is undoubtedly high and has increased in the post-crisis period”, – stated in the message Bank.

Over the past year in the world there are 2.3 million new dollar millionaires, bringing their total number has reached 36 million, “the Number of millionaires, which has decreased in 2008, recovered quickly after the financial crisis, and now about three times higher than the level in 2000”, – the report says.

The wealth of 3.5 billion of the poorest people in the world is less than $10 thousand per person. Overall, this category accounts for 70% of the population and 2.7% of the total wealth.

The welfare of the world’s population in the next five years will continue to grow at about the same rate, with the result that in 2022 it will increase to $341 trillion, economists predict Credit Suisse. They expect the number of dollar millionaires will reach 44 million people (i.e. approximately 20% from current levels), and the poorest part of the population will be reduced by 4%.

We will remind, in Russia by the end of 2016 the number of dollar millionaires increased by about 20%.
