The company expects to reduce the cost of its products.

French dairy producer Danone transports to Siberia from the Netherlands and Germany almost 5,000 Holstein cows. Therefore, the company expects to reduce the cost of their own products and to keep prices for their products on the Russian market, according to Bloomberg.

The cows have to move nearly 2800 km on a farm near Tyumen, the Agency said the head of the Russian office Danone Charlie Cappetti. Previously, the company together with the Russian agricultural holding, Damate bought a farm near Tyumen, covering 60 hectares.

Danone expects that all 5000 cows move to Russia in September, milk production on the farm will be launched in may next year. The company hopes that the increase in the production of raw milk in Russia will help to keep the prices of their products sold in the local market.

One of the main reasons of growth of prices for dairy products – food embargo imposed by Russia three years ago in response to the EU sanctions and the United States. Counter-sanctions involve a ban on import to Russia, including dairy products.

Earlier it was reported that the Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel continues to advocate for a phased lifting of sanctions against Russia as the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements.
