World famous clown, people’s artist of the USSR Oleg Popov died on the 87th year of life.

About this informed the Agency “TASS”, citing the Director of the Great Moscow circus Edgard zapashnogo.

“Oleg Popov died. I just got a call from the General Director of “Russian state circus company” Dmitry Ivanov reported about it”, – quoted Agency of zapashnogo.

He died in Russia. He was on tour in Rostov-on-don, where he arrived on 27 October. It was planned that the tour will last until November 20.

“It felt good, sitting in the evening watching TV, and suddenly it happened, suddenly,” the channel quoted the General Director of “Russian state circus company” Dmitry Ivanov.

Oleg Popov is one of the most famous Soviet circus performers. He became known in the 1950-ies by the work of the clown Karandash (Mikhail Rumyantsev) in the circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard in Moscow. Since the 1970s Popov worked in Great Moscow state circus on Vernadsky Prospekt, and after the collapse of the USSR moved to Germany, where he worked under the pseudonym “Happy Hans”.
