UEFA has issued its preliminary verdict in the case of Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, who is accused of doping.

The date of the disciplinary hearing will be announced later,” reads a statement on the official UEFA website.

Sakho could appeal against UEFA’s decision and to refer for consideration to the doping of the sample, however, the player decided not to challenge the verdict.

Thus, Sakho will no longer be able to help Liverpool this season. It is also worth noting that, after more detailed consideration of the case the player could face a lengthy disqualification.
