Denmark will provide Ukraine with interest-free loans for the implementation of sustainable infrastructure projects under the state guarantee. A corresponding framework agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oksana Markarova and the Ambassador of Denmark in Ukraine, Ruben Madsen, said on Thursday, March 14, the press service of the Danish Embassy.

Provided that the transaction is committed to the implementation of the programme Danida Business Finance (DBF) in Ukraine. According to the program DBF, interest-free loans with a significant grant will be provided for the implementation of sustainable infrastructure projects under the state guarantee. In particular, such projects can have a budget of $ 100 million or more euros.

It is expected that the projects will be implemented by the Danish suppliers and other partners.

It is expected that cooperation will focus on two major sectors: water supply and wastewater treatment and energy efficiency. In both sectors, the Danish company have extensive experience and know-how.

It is known that several potential projects for the reconstruction of Central heating systems and wastewater treatment have already been considered.

“We hope that this funding model will contribute to sustainable development and economic growth. Ukraine needs access to capital for its development, and Danida Business Finance is one of the most attractive preferential lending schemes in the world,” – said the Ambassador of Denmark Ruben Madsen.

Earlier, Ukraine has attracted a loan of 529 million euros in support of state policy in the sphere of economic growth and steady fiscal services provided by Deutsche Bank under the guarantee of the world Bank.

It was also reported that the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree, which provides for the implementation of external borrowing in the amount of $ 630 million.
