The new head of German carmaker Volkswagen will become the Herbert Dis, previously responsible for the brand development. This decision was made by the Supervisory Board of the company.
One of the main tasks of the new head – the development of electric vehicles.
Dis will be replaced by Matthias Mueller, who headed VW in the fall of 2015, being appointed to this position on the background of the so-called diesel scandal. Initially it was assumed that his contract will expire in 2020, however, the parties have reached mutual agreement on its termination.
In 2015, the U.S. government found out that Volkswagen deliberately understated data on the content of harmful substances in exhaust gases of diesel engines. In the summer of 2017, the company came to an agreement about compensation to the owners of the United States. “Diesel scandal” cost the company tens of billions of dollars.
Recently, in state court in new Jersey filed a lawsuit against German automaker BMW, which is accused of manipulation of data on the emissions of diesel engines.
