World champion in freeriding, 21–year-old Swiss snowboarder Estelle Bala died as a result of avalanches in the Swiss Alps during the filming of a movie about sports. About it reports The Guardian.

The incident occurred in the Canton of Valais, when the athlete snowboarding.

The ball was wearing a helmet and was carrying the necessary equipment for survival (avalanche airbag sensor and airbag with the airbag), but this couldn’t save her. Help arrived on the scene too late.

Was swept away during the descent of the Ball down the slope.

It should be noted that Bale was world champion on the freeride for two consecutive years – in 2015 and 2016.
